At a meeting of Wardle Society, Coronation Power made a presentation proposing the development of a 12 turbine Wind Farm at Crook Hill Wardle.

The Regulatory Committee at Rochdale Council has turned down the decision to build a small wind farm at Crook Hill.

January 2009

The Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has appointed Mr S R G Baird BA (Hons) MRTPI as the Inspector to hold a Public Inquiry and prepare a report for the Secretary of State on appeals by Coronation Power.

21 February 2011

 

A new planning application from Coronation Power has been submitted - this proposes an alternative means of access to the site, which is to be taken from a point off the A671 at Shawforth in Rossendale and involving a new access route to the higher area of the moor to reach the turbines.

Wardle Society at its meeting on the 3rd March 2011 decided to oppose this application.

 

June 2011

Rochdale MBC Planning and Regulations Services sent a letter to Wardle Society Secretary advising us of two Planning Sub-Committee meetings that were taking place, and which the public are welcome to attend. These are:

1. Rochdale Township Planning Sub-Committee on 7th June at Rochdale Town Hall, commencing at 6.15pm

2. Pennines Township Planning Sub-Committee on 8th June at Rochdale Town Hall, commencing at 6.15pm

At both these meetings, the amended planning applications for an alternative means of access to the site was APPROVED
